Cowboy Magic's Rosewater shampoo offers more than just cleaning power!

We've been using Cowboy Magic products for almost a month now and I can't seem to get enough of this product line and the fact that the products really do what they say without drying out my horses hair or irritating my skin!

The very first product we put up to the test was the Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo. With summer in Alabama already in full effect and temperatures rising into the 90s already we give a ton of baths around the barn this time of year. I honestly try not to bath my horse too often as he suffers from dry skin around his tail and mane and he ends up rubbing his tail bone to death if you dry him out too much. I've used everything from human shampoos to industrial strength heavy duty shampoos on my horse with mixed results and really it comes down to the fact that I really want a product that gets the job done in a short amount of time and still leaves my horse shiny and clean without drying out their coat and skin.

I've tried using the Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo diluted, directly on my sponge, and even by applying it directly on the horse and working it in. Really the results are the same regardless and currently I'm using it by diluting it in a bucket and using a sponge to apply it all over the horse and then work it in. I'll apply it directly to my sponge or brush if I'm working on an extra dirty area or white socks just to give me a little more scrubbing power. The shampoo almost immediately suds when you start to work it into the hair but we haven't gotten huge foam like I get with some of the other products I've used so my first bath I gave using the shampoo I ended up using way too much shampoo expecting to get some major bubbles. Though it does suds up quite fast you don't end up with piles of foam nor do you need them. Rising it off is equally as easy as it seems to take less water to rinse out. The end result was a fabulously shiny super soft coat but I couldn't help to think I should have tried less shampoo. Since then I've just been using a small amount diluted into a smaller bucket and I start at the neck using a large sponge and just wet the horse all over with the mixture. Afterwords I go all over my horse using my large sponge and then massage in with my hand or scrub brush in the mane, tail, and other problem areas and end up with the exact same results.

The biggest draw for me on the Cowboy Magic line is the fact that the products do not dry out hair and will not irritate skin. Unfortunately my sons as well as myself suffer from super dry sensitive skin and anything I use on the horses I ride that has contact with my skin takes as much tole on my own skin as it does theirs. My appendix quarter horse also suffers from dry skin and many products just end up leaving him dull looking and itchy. I've used just the Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo on him on the days I'm in a hurry with no conditioner to follow up with and just left him to dry in his paddock. The next day his hair feels great and his mane and tail brush out easily which is almost unheard of without using a conditioner. I also really appreciate the fact that my own hands and arms are not irritated or feel dry after being elbow deep in a bucket of shampoo after bathing several horses one after another.

Cowboy Magic's Rosewater Shampoo is super high quality using many of the same ingredients you would find in a salon grade human shampoo using hydrolyzed silk panthenol which the silk acts as a conditioner leaving the hair and skin moisturized. You also find things like rose flower extract, rosemary, lavender, peppermint, honey and other natural ingredients which gives the shampoo a slightly herbal fresh smell and soothes your horse's hair naturally without ton of chemicals! Zoomie rubs his tail raw depending on what I use on him and his hair is looking noticeably better after using Cowboy Magic products after several weeks. You do not have to limit Cowboy Magic's Rosewater Shampoo to just your tack room, it also works great on dogs and people too! I actually compared the ingredients in Cowboy Magic to an expensive salon shampoo that I have in my own bathroom and at nearly a third of the price. Even compared to the cost of other shampoos on the market at the same price point you only need a little bit of Cowboy Magic to go a really long way.

You can learn more about Cowboy Magic's products as well as use the store locator to find Cowboy Magic near you at the Cowboy Magic website.

  11. I'd like to try the green spot remover, but I am also a big fan of the detangling lotion, it works great, smells great and I think it makes the horses hair softer and adds a subtle sheen.

  13. I don't have horses, but I have goats. Cowboy Magic Green Spot Remover, could honestly be called simply Magic Spot Remover, because it removes stains from the goats' coats like magic. It used to be a disaster at a show when a goat's nervous stomach would result in her staining herself, and a few other herdmates in the showstring. A little Green Spot Remover and a wet towel and they're ready to walk in the ring in no time!

  14. Cowboy Magic probably doesn't want to hear this, but around 6 or 7 years ago I won a 4 oz. tube of Detangler And Shine. I didn't have a use for it with my goats, so I kept it for myself. I have very fine hair, but it tangles easily. This product works better than any other I have found. I'm still using the same tube, one little drop at a time. When I get out of the shower, I put a tiny dot in my palm, work it into my hair, and the brush goes right through.

  15. I would love to try the Cowboy Magic Rosewater Shampoo and Cowboy Magic Rosewater Conditioner on both me and my goats. If they are anything like the other Cowboy Magic products I've tried, they will be wonderful. My only complaint is their products are sometimes hard to find locally, even with the help of the store locator on the Cowboy Magic site.
